Getting Started with Chapman Classroom Technology
This virtual workshop will equip instructors with the skills to confidently operate and maximize the classroom technology available at Chapman University.
We will cover how to use different presentation sources like your laptop, the document camera, and the classroom PC, and when each is most useful for different teaching scenarios.
You will learn how to leverage Apple TV to teach untethered, giving you the freedom to move around the classroom while sharing content wirelessly. Plus, you will learn how to use Zoom to record lectures or host guest speakers, making your teaching more flexible and inclusive.
Whether you are new to the classroom technology or looking to sharpen your skills, this virtual workshop will help you get the most out of your classroom tools and teach with confidence. This is also a great opportunity to ask questions about the classroom technology and learn how to access ongoing support.

During the session, instructors will learn how to: Access Chapman Syllabus from within their Canvas course, Make edits and customize their syllabus using the provided template, Submit and share the syllabus with students, Download or print a PDF copy, Track student engagement with the syllabus, Understand how syllabi are stored and accessed through the Syllabus Library, By the end of this 30-minute session, instructors will be prepared to confidently finalize and publish their syllabus in Canvas before the term begins, ensuring students have clear, consistent access to course information from day one.

Set up assignment groups (if applicable), Set Canvas assignments to match your syllabus, Point accumulation - provide a point value for each assignment, which will be calculated in the total column, Weighted categories, Set up grade posting policy, Arrange the Gradebook: Move the total column to the front, Hide grade distribution graphs, Enable a course grade scheme for a course Adding extra information about students using the “notes” column, Use the icons and colors in the Gradebook.
