2026 Entertainment & Sports Law Symposium
Behind the Mask: Name, Image, and Likeness examines how personal identity is transformed into a commercial asset in the entertainment and sports industries. Like a secret identity, an individual’s name, image, and likeness can take on a life of its own once it enters the marketplace, especially as digital platforms and artificial intelligence expand the meaning of identity. This symposium explores what happens when a public persona grows beyond the person behind it. Panelists will examine who controls NIL rights, how value is extracted from identity-based branding, and how the law responds when technology blurs the line between the individual and the image.
