GRA Information Session

The Gender Identity bill (SB-179) went into effect on January 1, 2019. California now legally recognizes nonbinary as a third gender option for residents who do not identify as male or female. The new law makes it easier for people to change gender on state identification and birth certificates, while establishing a nonbinary designation, including but not limited to some transgender individuals and those born with intersex traits. The state registrar is required to issue a new birth certificate to California natives to reflect a gender change and the Department of Motor Vehicles must allow applicants for a driver’s license or identification card to choose a gender category of female, male, or nonbinary. Art Exhibit: House, Broken

Art Marisol Rendon and Ingram Ober are artists and educators who reside in San Diego. They are also married with children and continuously “fixing” their home. Ingram’s work sits at the collision point between some of his favorite contemporary art influences, cast-off materials from around the house, and DIY home improvement. Marisol’s work explores the space between hope and delusion through a seemingly geologic investigation of domestic materials and objects. It is the hopeful, yet always overwhelming aesthetics of family/homeownership that is the central theme that binds their work for this exhibition. Music of Stax Records: Soulsville, USA

Performing Arts Jazz Collective Presents the Music of Stax Records: Soulsville, USA, Join the Downbeat award-winning Jazz Collective and Professor Steve Torok as they explore the music and history of Stax Records. Stax was founded in 1957 and became one of the most important record labels in American music history, launching the careers of Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Booker T, and the MGs, Wilson Pickett, Mavis Staples, and many others. UURISE has developed a safety plan program to assess your needs and assist you in creating a plan in the event that you or a family member is detained or deported. These plans are individually designed to protect you, your family members, and your assets. What is a safety plan? A safety plan is a series of possible actions that have been decided in advance and can be used in an emergency. Specifically, it is a plan of what can be done to prevent catastrophic loss in the event that you or a member of your family is detained or deported. Although the primary goal will always be to prevent deportation, that is not always possible. Each individual and family plan is unique and can address issues such as the legal right to care for your children, preventing them… Organization: Student Equity.
