A.C. Thompson is a staff reporter with ProPublica. His stories often examine the criminal justice system. In addition to working as a print and web journalist, Thompson has reported extensively for television, serving as a producer and correspondent for the PBS documentary series Frontline.

The theme is "Getting the Story Right" a discussion of how journalists approach the problem of using field research and interviews to come up with a reliable and valid account of the story that they are covering. In many ways, and using some of the same practices, qualitative social scientists endeavor to do the same.
