Ekphrasis: The Poetic Image
Join us at the Hilbert Museum of California Art for an afternoon of poetry featuring Keith S. Wilson, an award-winning poet and game designer. Wilson is the author of Fieldnotes on Ordinary Love, which was recognized by the New York Times as a best new book of poetry, and Games for Children, a National Poetry Series winner.
This reading is hosted by Tabula Poetica with support from Wilkinson College and in partnership with the Hilbert Museum. Closed captioning will be provided throughout the afternoon.
Refreshments will be served after the reading, and attendees are invited to view the artwork on display in the Hilbert Museum’s North Galleries.

Getting the Story Right with Martin Kaste
The theme is "Getting the Story Right" a discussion of how journalists approach the problem of using field research and interviews to come up with a reliable and valid account of the story that they are covering. In many ways, and using some of the same practices, qualitative social scientists endeavor to do the same. We social scientists can learn a lot from how journalists manage the challenges of gathering and using evidence to tell a truthful story.

Join us in a social media movement, #OnigiriAction, to help provide school, meals for children in need. Learn how to make onigiri and post with the hashtag. For every photo posted, 5 meals will be donated via Table For Two to children, worldwide! Rice and seaweed will be provided.
What is an onigiri? A Japanese rice ball wrapped in nori (seaweed). They can be triangular or, cylindrical, and sometimes have filling.

Founded in Los Angeles as an artist-run gallery, collective, and cultural space rooted in ancestry, abolition, and healing, Crenshaw Dairy Mart (CDM) brings exhibition making, artistic practice, and community building into dialogue. Artists Oto-Abasi Attah, Ashley Blakeney, Patrisse Cullors, alexandre ali reza dorriz, and noé olivas come together to discuss their individual practices, shared histories, and the evolving vision of DCM.
