Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. For more information, stop by their office in the Hub on the second level of Avera Student Center, or visit their social media. Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. Circle Program Monthly Smudge

Hí?ha?ni wašté – It’s a good day!  We warmly invite you to join the NSU Circle Program as a campus community for our monthly smudging, 12:15-12:30 PM in The Circle Program room (MJ112) and Technology Center Courtyard.   Smudging is a sacred tradition involving the burning of sacred plants. It’s a way to cleanse, reflect, begin anew, and gather in a good way—as we begin a fresh start to the month. Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. South Dakota Teacher of the Year

Amy Verhelst, a kindergarten teacher at Sioux Valley Elementary in Volga, has been named the 2025 South Dakota Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made by Secretary of Education Joseph Graves during a banquet in Fort Pierre. Verhelst, who has taught since 2014, is recognized for her strong commitment to the Science of Reading and helping students become readers before completing kindergarten. Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend.
