Dr. Jon Schaff, professor of Political Science, will be the featured speaker at this forum. His session is titled "Lincoln’s Declaration." Dr. Schaff’s talk, part of NSU’s Constitution Day celebration, will look at the Declaration of Independence through the eyes of Abraham Lincoln, especially focusing on Declaration of Independence ideas in the Gettysburg Address.
The Noon Forum is held in the NSU Beulah Williams Library Round Room from 12-1pm on Wednesdays and is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences.

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. For more information, stop by their office in the Hub on the second level of Avera Student Center, or visit their social media.
Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. All Northern students are invited to bring their questions or concerns to SGA during Open Forum.
Meetings are open to the general public unless the SGA goes into a closed session. Business regarding students and student concerns occur during these meetings.

College Democrats: Meet the candidates
The NSU college democrats will be hosting a meet the candidate's event. This event will include speakers like Democratic Governor candidate Dan Ahlers, Democratic US House candidate Nikki Gronli, and Secretary of state candidate Nikki Gronli. This event will help the Northern college democrats gain legitimacy and recognition as a group on campus. This event will also serve one of our main goals which is civic engagement for the student population. The event will start with a quick introduction from the Northern State college democrat's president. And then the candidates will introduce themselves and their platform and then after this the students can ask questions in sort of like a town hall format. This event is not to push a partisan agenda but rather give an opportunity for the student population to get more involved with political engagement.

Student Government Association Meeting
The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. All Northern students are invited to bring their questions or concerns to SGA during Open Forum.
