Women in Science

The 23nd annual Women in Science conference will be held on the campus of Northern State University on March 17, 2026.  Women in Science brings over 300 junior and senior high school girls from the area together to explore their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics related careers.  Students from Frederick, Selby, Warner, Northwestern, Holgate, Britton, Simmons, Central, Huron, and Roncalli will spend the day with prominent women in science in various formats, including small group presentations, hands on activities, and a keynote speaker in the afternoon.   For more information, please visit https://northern.edu/women-science-conference. Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Medical Pathways Day

The purpose of Medical Pathways Day is to bring medical professionals to NSU to have a conversation about their profession, their journey into the profession, and any tidbits they can share. Yet across higher education, many institutions struggle to move these events beyond logistics-heavy schedules, repetitive programming, and engagement that drops off after the first year. Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. For more information, stop by their office in the Hub on the second level of Avera Student Center, or visit their social media. Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. All Northern students are invited to bring their questions or concerns to SGA during Open Forum. Meetings are open to the general public unless the SGA goes into a closed session.
