National History Day
Northern State University will host the annual National History Day regional competition. Middle and high school students from around northeastern South Dakota will be participating in the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at NSU. Northern hosts this event every spring.
Winners at the regional competition are invited to go to the state competition, and winners of the state competition advance to the national competition.

The 23nd annual Women in Science conference will be held on the campus of Northern State University on March 17, 2026. Women in Science brings over 300 junior and senior high school girls from the area together to explore their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics related careers.
