Medical Pathways Day

The purpose of Medical Pathways Day is to bring medical professionals to NSU to have a conversation about their profession, their journey into the profession, and any tidbits they can share. It is also a way to connect students to potential volunteer experiences in said areas. Areas include social work, dentistry, dermatology, medical school (dean), and nursing. The event will include short presentations and one-on-one sessions with professionals.  All events will be held in the Jewett Science Center Building. 11:30am-12pm: One-on-one sessions for students and professionals in the lobby. 12pm-1pm: Speaker mini-sessions will be held in Room 133. 1pm-1:30pm: One-on-one sessions for students and professionals in the lobby.  This event is open to all NSU students. Noon Forum-Ken Blanchard

The Noon Forum for Wednesday, April 1, 2026 will be presented by Dr. Ken Blanchard, professor emeritus of political science.  His topic is "Democracy and Double Standards". Almost everyone in the media or in government, here and abroad, talks as if democracy is a sacred principle and talks about it as if they have no idea what it means.  I will discuss its meaning from ancient times to the present and consider the abuse of the concept in contemporary politics. Shootout at Pine Ridge - Jaeden Shaving

The Noon Forum for Wednesday, April 22, 2026 will be presented by Jaeden Shaving, NSU student working towards his Master of Science Education.  His topic is "Shootout at Pine Ridge". A look at the 1975 incident on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation that left two FBI agents dead and the legal battle Leonard Peltier has fought since his imprisonment in 1976 until President Biden commuted his life sentence in January 2025. Speech & Debate Forum - Foote

The Noon Forum for Wednesday, April 29, 2026 will be presented by Dr. Gus Foote, assistant professor of communication studies and director of forensics. This forum is titled "Noon Performances by NSU Speech and Debate". Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system.
