NSU FAIL Fest
Join us for an inspiring event celebrating the power of embracing the "fail forward" mentality. Sean Covel, the award-winning producer of Napoleon Dynamite and The 12 Dogs of Christmas, will share how some of his most iconic projects were initially seen as failures but became global successes. And even becoming best-selling children's book author with his Porter the Hoarder series. From his small-town roots to a global filmmaking career, Covel’s story will inspire you to think big, learn from setbacks, and turn failure into innovation.
This event is hosted by the Northern Innovation and Startup Center, TRIO Student Support Services, and TRIO McNair Scholars Program.

Student Government Association Meeting
The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. For more information, stop by their office in the Hub on the second level of Avera Student Center, or visit their social media.
Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. All Northern students are invited to bring their questions or concerns to SGA during Open Forum.
Meetings are open to the general public unless the SGA goes into a closed session. Business regarding students and student concerns occur during these meetings. .

Noon Forum - Wolves Roaming the World
The Noon Forum for Wednesday, December 11, 2024 will be presented by Dr. Anna Schwan, Dean of Education, and Dr. Nicole Schutter, Chair & Assistant Professor in Teacher Education. Their topic is "Wolves Roaming the World".
Join Anna Schwan and Nicole Schutter for "Wolves Roaming the World," a presentation about leading a study abroad experience to Italy. Several students will share their insights on learning about Italian culture, history, and the Italian education system. This presentation offers a thoughtful look at the impact of faculty-led study abroad programs on student growth and cultural awareness.
The Noon Forum is held in the NSU Beulah Williams Library Round Room from 12-1pm on Wednesdays and is sponsored by the Center for Public History & Civic Engagement and the Knight Foundation.

Comedian - Caleb Elliott
Join CAB and Comedian Caleb Elliott for a great night!
Caleb Elliott is a comedian, writer and actor from North Carolina who’s been performing, stand up since he was 11 years old. At the age of 14 he opened for Bill Bellamy, and, since then has worked with comedians such as Tracey Morgan, Ralphie May, Donnell, Rawlings and Sinbad. In 2020 he became the youngest comic to release a Dry Bar, Comedy Special, “Diary of a Smooth Black Kid.” In 2021 he released a comedy, extended playlist “Humorous Interpretation” on Sirius XM and Laugh USA. In 2022, Caleb made his first television appearance on season 2 of ‘Stand up Nashville’ for the, Opry Network. He is currently on tour with John Crist.
