New Student Convocation

Now in its sixth year, New Student Convocation has become a signature tradition at Northern State University—formally welcoming our newest Wolves to campus. As the ceremonial “bookend” to Commencement, this event marks the beginning of each student’s academic journey and inspires them to return in four years as proud NSU graduates. All students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to attend this meaningful celebration of new beginnings. Accessibility accommodations—including captioning and assistive listening devices—will be available. Student Affairs is committed to making our events accessible to all participants. If you need accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Student Accessibility Services at 605-626-3007. Event Locator: 2025-ACFZKC. Student Government Association Meeting

The NSU Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the governing body/voice of the pack, representing all Northern students. Functions of SGA include overseeing the creation and recognition of all organizations, delegating General Activity Fee fund allocation on campus every spring, representing NSU at South Dakota Student Federation meetings, and serving as the bridge between the student body and the South Dakota regental system. SGA meets weekly during the academic year and welcomes all students, Northern employees, and community members to attend. For more information, stop by their office in the Hub on the second level of Avera Student Center, or visit their social media. Open Forum is at the beginning of every meeting. All Northern students are invited to bring their questions or concerns to SGA during Open Forum. Meetings are open to the general public unless the SGA goes into a closed session. Business regarding students and student concerns occur during these meetings. Event Locator: 2026-ACHVPS. Wednesday, August 26, 2026, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Beulah Williams Library Round Rm 104.
