Field Safety Training - Avalanche Awareness

This awareness level course is important for anyone heading into the mountains during seasons in which snow is likely. Learn to identify avalanche slopes and hazards. Understand red flag situations and scenarios. Learn how to use critical rescue gear in the event of a burial. This course will be both inside and outside, dress appropriately. Roughly 7 hours. Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training

Responsible Conduct of Research training will be offered via Zoom on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The training is brought to you by the Office of Research Integrity. This workshop fulfills the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health requirements for formal RCR instruction. RCR is a required training for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers supported by NSF awards. It is an NIH requirement that all BLaST Mentors, Scholars, UREs, and other funded projects participate in RCR training. RCR training covers core norms, principles, regulations, and rules governing the practice of research. RCR is a highly recommended “best practices” course for those desiring to deepen their knowledge of ethical research and responsible conduct. 2025 Delta Farm Forum

The Delta Farm Forum is an annual event for the agriculture community in Interior Alaska. Updates and presentations from agricultural producers, researchers and representatives from businesses and agricultural agencies are given throughout the day, with a sit-down lunch at noon. A White Guy’s Road to Decolonial Pedagogy

On Feb. 26 and 27, Kevin Gannon will visit the UAF Troth Yeddha’ campus to deliver a public lecture and workshop series on decolonial and inclusive pedagogy in higher education. This lecture uses personal vignettes to illustrate how an educator whose identities come from culturally dominant and privileged places might encounter, and embrace, a decolonizing practice for teaching and learning. Gannon is director of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence and professor of History at Queens University of Charlotte, in North Carolina. He is the author of Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto, and his writing has also appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Vox, CNN, and The Washington Post. This lecture is open to all. Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) - April 2025

Participating in this PSEP training will help prepare you to become a certified pesticide applicator in Alaska. The training will be offered over Zoom and includes all necessary study materials for the categories of your choice. Participants can pick up their materials at a local Cooperative Extension office for $75, or have the materials mailed to them for $100. Participating in this PSEP training will help prepare you to become a certified pesticide applicator in Alaska. The training will be offered over Zoom and includes all necessary study materials for the categories of your choice. Participants can pick up their materials at a local Cooperative Extension office for $75, or have the materials mailed to them for $100.
