Visit of Dr. Yvonne P. Sherwood
Dr. Yvonne P. Sherwood is an Indigenous scholar (Spokane and Coeur d’Alene), educator, and community-engaged researcher whose work bridges Indigenous governance, land-based education, and social justice. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto Mississauga (Canada), where she teaches Indigenous Legal Orders and Anti-Colonial Methodologies. In 2023–2024, she was Washington State University’s Professor of Indigenous/Native American Law and Policy in the Department of Politics. Her research centers Indigenous governance, language reclamation, food sovereignty, and collaborative models grounded in relational accountability.
A proud alumna of Eastern Washington University and a McNair Scholar, Dr. Sherwood’s intellectual path was shaped by the transformative power of federally funded access programs and interdisciplinary fields such as Ethnic Studies and Feminist Studies. Night of Champions Dinner & Auction
We are excited to host our third-annual A Night of Champions at the Davenport Grand Hotel on Saturday, May 9th, in the main ballroom at ground-level on the northeast end of the building.
The dress code for the event is cocktail attire and/or business casual.
Just to remind you, doors will open for our social period at 5:00 PM with dinner service at 6:45 PM, and the main program following at 7:30 PM (we may start earlier pending dinner and dessert service).
If you are driving to the venue, you may park in the Davenport Grand Parking Garage. The entrance is located off Washington Street, just past Main Avenue (across from Auntie's Bookstore). You'll collect a ticket when you enter the garage, but we will provide you with a parking voucher when you check in at the event, which will cover your parking fees when you leave at the end of the night.

Vitalant Blood Donation is coming to EWU campus. Blood drive will be located in the PUB NCR on Tuesday, May 13, 2026.
