Visit of Dr. Yvonne P. Sherwood

Dr. Yvonne P. Sherwood is an Indigenous scholar (Spokane and Coeur d’Alene), educator, and community-engaged researcher whose work bridges Indigenous governance, land-based education, and social justice. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto Mississauga (Canada), where she teaches Indigenous Legal Orders and Anti-Colonial Methodologies. In 2023–2024, she was Washington State University’s Professor of Indigenous/Native American Law and Policy in the Department of Politics. Her research centers Indigenous governance, language reclamation, food sovereignty, and collaborative models grounded in relational accountability.
